Janine Melnitz, Ghostbusters' Style Icon

About 15 years ago I made myself a Ghostbusters costume. It was a army green shirt dress from New Look with a home made Ghostbusters' crest & a matching Venkman name bag.

In fact I was wearing the dress the night my now husband asked me out. It wasn't Halloween either, just me being an odd bod.

The Ghostbusters boys weren't the only well-dressed characters in the series though.

Something about the colour combination & my specs today (see second pic) reminded me of Ghostbusters' underrated style icon, Janine Melnitz. Her outfits were fab, late 90's clashing colours & faux fur jackets. Not to mention that ginger bob she had cut in for Ghostbusters II Here are some of the Janine figures released, or custom built by fans.

Martha's Vineyard Gingerbread Houses

I always appreciate it when Twitter friends point out things they think would be apt for The World of Kitsch.

@AideenJ tweeted me this morning after enjoying the posts about multi-coloured houses from a few weeks back.

Aideen asked me had I ever seen the Gingerbread Houses of Martha's Vineyard? I hadn't! I always though Martha's Vineyard was a chain of restaurants for a start. Thank you for sharing these with me, and anyone else, feel free to tweet me things you find here & there @rudedoodle.
