/Today's blog post brings you a website I'm confident you've never stumbled upon before. www.Demetz-Patrick.com is an Italian based studio of highly skilled wood carvers. They not only produce cuckoo clocks, but statues, chess pieces and bespoke commissions, all created from scratch.
The cuckoo clock's struck a special chord with me. My first conscious kitsch purchase when I had my first flat was a bright pink, plastic cuckoo clock. When The World of Kitsch started to get popular, I celebrated by buying a very modern black, metal cuckoo clock. My Gran owned one of these type, the classic, highly detailed wooden version. I think that's what I would ultimately love to own. I wish I'd inherited her's, as they make fabulous heirlooms to pass down through the generations due to their worth. A handmade clock is even more valuable, and will intrigue children and grandads alike.

Great Modern Cuckoo Clock from John Lewis

I'm a very lucky girl this week. The lovely folks at www.johnlewis.com sent me this super swish, sleek black metal cuckoo clock, to add to the menagerie at The World of Kitsch homestead. It's fits in perfectly with my living room, amongst faux-fur cushions & moose print lampshades. You can't really imagine me having a plain clock, and this isn't one. It would equally look great in a bachelor pad, or to give a twist to a minimalist monochrome interior.

One hell of a Cuckoo Clock

This beauty arrived in the post for me today from very kind, local twitter pal, Arlene @dressjunkie Can't wait to get it hung up, unfortunately in the excitement of opening the box, I managed to drop the clock in a slapstick fashion, so there's also a four leaf clover detail I need to glue back on! I can understand why @dressjunkie might not want to hang up this treasure, but as you can tell it's going to fit right in around here.

Taking pride of place on the cabinet are my two little wooden houses. The one on the left is an old fashioned weather predicting toy, when rain is due the lady comes out of her door, if it's to be dry her colourful hubby will swing out. The house on the right was a surprise Christmas gift from my husband; proof he totally understands my bad taste! This one isn't a reproduction, it's an actual vintage music box, with ivory stag heads & cute heart patterned window shades. My husband is a fantastic present buyer!
