On the 8th Day of Kitschmas @Rudedoodle Gave to Me- Eight Splendidly Tremendous Octopus Tattoos

IMG_4174.JPG

I know an octopus isn't Christmassy, but we are almost at New Year, so I'm tailing off for these last few daily posts.

IMG_4172.JPG

I hope you've enjoyed my Kitschmas countdown. I've actually enjoyed finding cool stuff to share with you, my long-term, faithful readers.

IMG_4175.JPG

This is actually how www.TheWorldofKitsch.com began. My room mate from 2005, @TheRonster suggested I made a blog to share the Kitsch stuff I would buy for my home from charity shops. About six months in I started having the chance to work with brands, and I've really gotten so caught up in it that I now only really blog when I've been kindly sent something to try out, or been somewhere to experience.

IMG_4176.JPG

How would you like me to slip in a blog post more like this again, maybe at least a week? I have old posts like one where I shared behind the scenes photos from Layrinth that has had 67 views today alone and another post about a beauty range that has the scent of Parma Violet sweets viewed 51 times today also. They are consistently in my most viewed list, and the latter was posted in 2014.

So that shows both my niche blog posts and brands that are unique and featured by me coming to them and not vice versa, have worked out as well as any of my big, exciting partnership with local, national and worldwide brands.

So in 2017 I will make one resolution to return to my blogging roots more often. I hope you are enjoying my 12 Days of Kitschmas in the meantime.

On the 7th Day of Kitschmas @Rudedoodle Gave to Me- Seven Stella McCartney Days of the Week Pants

IMG_4167.JPG
FullSizeRender.jpg

You've heard her Pops blasting out of shop stereo systems for weeks now, wishing us a 'wonderful Christmastime', so why not include Stella McCartney's adorable sets of seven pants for kids, in the traditional days of the week.

FullSizeRender.jpg

They are quite pricy I must admit, and the boys' ones look like they could be made by Primark as much as McCartney.

IMG_4169.JPG

There's also a set of vests for girls. I'd love the one with the record player myself.

Happy Seventh Day of Christmas.

On the 5th Day of Kitschmas @Rudedoodle Gave to Me- Five Bold Rings- Uber-Tacky Retro Christmas Wreaths

IMG_4132.JPG

Happy Boxing Day! I've been really inspired finding images for this blog post, and as you can see I couldn't narrow it down to five, I've ended up with over twenty! Whoops! Enjoy!

I love these wreaths made from the old fashioned Christmas tree lights.

Soft pink on a wreath is a nice change from traditional red and green.

Or how about a blue/green themed wreath? Very peacock-like.

On the 4th Day of Kitschmas @Rudedoodle Gave to Me- Four Doctor Who Dalek Christmas Trees

IMG_4131.JPG
IMG_4129.JPG

I remember the first ever Dalek Christmas tree appearing online a few years ago and blogging about it. Now there are tonnes of copycats when you Google search for them, some better than the original, some worse, all very cool though.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas Day.

On the 3rd Day of Christmas @Rudedoodle Gave to Me- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner- Three Horrific 1970s' Christmas Meals

IMG_4120.JPG

At some point I must research this. Why do 70s' cook books' have page after page of absolutely disgusting looking recipes? Why were those meals served up and considered modern & appetising then, but are so repulsive to our eye now? And why did they put everything in jelly? Even salads??

Anyway, my third day of Christmas gift to you on this Christmas Eve should curb your appetite if you fear over eating. Just keep this blog post open on your phone tomorrow and take a quick peek if you want to put yourself off your food and not eat another mince pie.

1. BREAKFAST

IMG_4106.JPG

Christmas breakfast is chocolate, so here we are. Probably the only thing any of us would eat willingly in this blog post.

IMG_4107.JPG
IMG_4108.JPG

2. LUNCH

IMG_4109.JPG

Or Christmas dinner I suppose. Start with a prawn Christmas tree (not the last tree we will see), put your turkey in a suit, and tuck into the mash igloo.

3. DINNER

I said there would be more trees.

A sausage wreath, naturally.

Make it stop.

On the 2nd Day of Christmas @Rudedoodle Gave to me- Two Home Alone Songs

Schmoyoho have been making hilarious tunes and auto tuning the news on YouTube for years now.

Three years ago they put lyrical to the Home Alone theme tune, and you'll never hear it the same way again once you've heard this.

This year, they auto tuned Kevin and made an original song 'I Made My Family Disappear'.

So my second day of Christmas gift to you, is both of these songs. Also check out their latest videos where they auto tune Star Wars.

On The 1st Day of Kitschmas @Rudedoodle Gave to Me- One Star Wars Holiday Special (Watch it Here!)

IMG_4102.PNG

If you've never seen it, you can't believe it can be as bad as everyone says it is. But it is.

The ill-advised Star Wars Holiday Special, written by George Lucas and shown in 1978 is the stuff of legends.

IMG_4101.JPG

Han Solo & Chewie go to visit the latter's family, and we also see appearances from Leia, Luke, CP30 and of course Darth Vader.

The definitely-not-canon ordeal includes bizarre scenes like Chewie's creepy uncle viewing what can only be described as virtual reality, 3D, soft porn.

One interesting fact- the Holiday Special is actually the first appearance of cult favourite character Boba Fett. He pops up in a cartoon animated sequence, then goes on to star in the second Star Wars movie shortly after.

IMG_4104.JPG

So my first day of Christmas blog for you, my loyal readers, is a link to a fairly good quality version of the entire show.

If you've already seen it, and can't put yourself through it again, then why not  read this Mental Floss article about the making of the Star Wars Holiday Special instead? They talk to those who were involved who I guess have come to terms with the creation they put out there.

Stayed tuned over the next eleven days for more Kitsch Christmas treats.Â
