Eames Era Extravagant Retro Plant Stand

For my recent thirtieth birthday, my parents paid for a boat-shaped cocktail bar I had hunted down. It has been my long term item of lust.

I think it's nice to have at least one almost unattainable item to search the boot sales and charity shops for, so my next longed for item has become an Eames era plant stand.

These needlessly large display tables come in many designs, but commonly have the modernist, tapered legs, and the table tops vary in colour.

I've tried my luck on eBay for one, but the current price range they end up selling for is between £35 and £80. Add postage to that for such a large and awkward item, and it defeats the whole purpose of my bargain hunting philosophy!

Much like my boat bar, I can see my quest to own a quirky plant stand stretching out over a couple of years, but that's all part of the fun.
I think my best chance is a car boot sale, fingers crossed.

Illuminated, Moving Waterfall Art

A classic you might remember hanging on the wall of Corrie's Vera Duckworth's abode, the light-up waterfall picture.

I don't have one of these myself, yet, I was quite excited to see a selection online with optional tinkly stream noise & date and time features!

I've also included an image of one of these majestic artworks in situ; the Winnie the Pooh ornaments are an added visual delight.

Flying Duck Wall Ornament in Brooch Design

I found a superb designer on eBay who's felt brooches are a pleasant change from the usual 'kitsch' jewellery results of Lego men & plastic disasters.

Kaela's designs are cute & perfect for autumn, felt foxes and sewn seagulls will look great on your winter coat lapel.

I've bought a brooch modelled on the traditional flying duck sets you'd find on any 1970's family's wall.

You can check out Kaela's other designs on here site here:

Golden String Art, DIY Kitsch

Had my eyes open for one of these in a charity shop for a while, but haven't managed to find one.

Maybe your Granny had one of these artworks. Mine did, funnily enough of a boat, which seem to be the main focus of these woven wonders.

Whilst ebaying I found a children's kit for making your own thread art. I'm thinking of making string cactii, stag's heads & maybe even a Jesus.

Inanimate Objects Gentlemanified

I do enjoy a bit of anthropomorphism in the morning.

I've posted my moustachioed plant pots before, but as I am housebound this week following a surprise overnight stay in hospital at the weekend, I'm not able to get to my usual charity shops & boot sales to find treasures.

I like my blog to showcase things I've either seen in real life, or preferably own in my home; so forgive me if this week the posts are of screenshots of horrors taken from eBay!
I'm sure I can find you some entertaining disgustingness on there until I'm back out and about scouting for tack.
