The Largest Listed Building in Europe, it's a Modernist Monster

Despite the daytime TV schedules being crammed with car boot shows & antique auctions show, and despite my penchant for crap tv, I never tune in of a morning.

However, I was making a cup of tea in my Mum's kitchen half an hour ago & got stopped in my tracks by a daytime telly piece about Sheffield's Park Hill Estate. It's an abandoned monster of residential living, completed in 1961 and falling into disrepair in the 80s.

It's now undergoing a multi-million pound regeneration, after becoming a listed building meaning it can't be demolished.

I'm not convinced. There's something a bit bleak about that artist's impression of the finished product. The hot air balloons are all a bit Logan's Run. Soylent Green is People.
