Novelty Singles. Mr Blobby, Spitting Image & Timmy Mallett's Itsy Bitsy Bikini- Which did you have on cassette?

I was chatting on Twitter this morning about how our son went and put his Daddy's new Fleetwood Mac Rumours vinyl on while I was in the shower. People were commenting on how well we were 'training' him to be a little muso, so I set the record straight (ha!) by admitting he also has his own iPod touch filled with Psy, One Direction and LMFAO.

But I believe a healthy interested in pop music from a young age is no bad thing for a serious muso either. One of my favourite, current music writers is Northern Irish born Edwin McFee,  is also a pop lover. I've happy, drunken 2003-ish memories of dancing around his living room in his student house with him, and friends Karen and David, to his press copy of Flip Reverse It by the Blazin' Squad on repeat, after spending the evening watching a somber Mark Lanegan gig.

Pop rocks, and here are some of the novelty singles from the 1980s & early 1990s that invaded my consciousness. I'd be very keen to hear which songs you bought as a child. Comment or let me know on Twitter.

The King & Queen of Vine, Marlo Meekins & WhoisMaxwell

Vine is the newest iPhone (so far) social network. With celebs and plebs alike signing up in their thousands, Vine gives you six seconds to make a masterpiece. There are lots of talented artists and musicians on it too, and my favourite Famous Viners are definitely the ones who play for laughs.

Marlo Meekins Vine is a beautifully insane world of characters like nerdy Rose, who seems to have trouble with tubes, Marlo's pet dogs and she herself being bloody hilarious. I dare you to watch her feed and not fall in love with her.

I won Marlo's little competition to have a personalised Vine made. You'll know it when you scroll through and see it. You might have nightmares though.

Marlo is an artist by trade and her style oxymoronically mashes up the really feminine with crude bodily functions & grim jokes. She has an online store too, so if you can't access her Vine, please do check out her wares.

'Mister Vine' has to be WhoisMaxwell, Max Burlingame. I don't know quite as much about this character, except that he is a budding cartoonist & it's never safe to watch his new Vines around your five year old!

Max is funny, self-depreciating and wonderfully weird. He seems to have disappeared from Vine this week, but hopefully if you add him, he will be back soon.

Max drew me about a month ago, in his super creepy John Kricfalusi style.

So who do you like on Vine? You can also find me being an idiot on there.

Blood Draw Meets The Tufty Club

I've featured Claire from Girls Names artwork before. Creepy little magical creatures available either as prints, or to be tattooed on your very skin at Skullduggery Tattoo, Belfast.

Claire posted this little fellow today who I would love to have tattooed on me at some point, if someone doesn't get him first! He reminds me of Willy Weasel from The Tufty Club, my first style icon with his blue & white striped top.

But what's that top right, Tufty? A snowboard? Oh, Tufty
