The World of Kitsch Invades Ikea Belfast

Ikea are celebrating 25 years in the UK this October. As part of the celebrations they've asked me to makeover some of their basic furniture pieces, to show visitors to the Belfast store how anyone can easily customise furniture at home themselves.

They will also be running in store workshops with Lulabelle's House, who's class I took last year and made over a telephone table. So if you are keen to try some arty DIY yourself, keep an eye on the signage in store for dates of workshops.

I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the decorating. In the meantime if you want to see some World of Kitsch art, I still have my light boxes on display at Crafty Belfast in T13 in the Titanic Quarter.

Atomic Era Mugs from Gilbert's

Very space age! Here's the blurb-

Designed by the legendary Frank Kerdil for PO, these attractive space-saving mugs are made from double walled ceramic and grippy silicone bands, keeping drinks hotter for longer, making handles redundant and burns and spills a thing of the past. Available in two sizes – 11cm (£11.50) & 13.2cm (£15.00) www.topgourmet.co.uk

Rainbow Coloured Digital Yoghurt Maker from Judge

www.JudgeCookware.co.uk sent me this colourful digital yoghurt maker to have a go with this week. The pretty rainbow pots allow you to make your own yoghurt at home at a fraction of the price of store bought pots. The digital settings mean you can customise the length of run time, and choose the consistency of your yoghurt. So if you like pouring or drinking you can set the Judge machine to make that overnight too.

It's £34.94 on Amazon, and makes a colourful addition to the kitchen.

I added fruit, but I'm also thinking of getting food colouring and making some crazy blue yoghurt to surprise my son in his packed lunch!
