The World of Kitsch is 1000- Have a nosy round my House.

This is the 1,000th blog post on The World of Kitsch. Thank you all so much for continuing to read the site, for contributing art work, and thanks too to all the locals who tip me off about charity shop treasures.

I wondered what to do for this momentous post, and I figured I'd give you what I would like to see. A good old nosy around someone else's house. So here are my three cabinets, as they look today, and my boat bar.

This is the pure kitsch cabinet. Stuffed to bursting with souvenirs of holidays I've never been on.

Second is the taxidermy cabinet. There's a devilsh duckling & kangaroo fur koala keeping Jesus company.
Second shelf houses a fox head and a stoat. Theres also a two-headed duckling but he's hard to see in this photo. Bottom shelf has a game bird and a duck. Oh, and a little pony skin purse.

The third cabinet has been revamped this week and is now my vintage toy cabinet. The most recent addition is the boxed Fisher Price record player www.HandpickedCollection.com sent me. I'll blog about that new toy next week.

The glorious boat bar. A little redundant as I'm now teetotal, but there she is. Home to two taxidermy piranhas.

The EBay Haunted Painting

This is blog post number 999 on The World of Kitsch. I'd like to share one of my favourite Internet curiosities that you may have missed from a few years back.

This painting, Hands Resist Him, by Bill Stoneham was listed on eBay as a haunted item, with the figures appearing to move at night. Any of the Twitter folks I've been chatting to about Mister Pipes and BBC Ghostwatch lately, might want to give reading up about this a miss if you're only just sleeping soundly again.

2011 Kitsch- Jersey Shore Christmas Tree Ornaments

Tonight the MTV European Music Awards are being held in my home city of Belfast. Presiding over the glitz are J-Woww & Snooki, two stars of the reality show Jersey Shore.

I love Jersey Shore. Not even in a cool, ironic way, I truly love it. My husband notes it's one of the few television shows I even set my iPhone down to watch. I'm a big fan, but I still can't get my head round the situation (ha!) I'd have to be in to think, 'oh! I know what I'd like to theme my Christmas tree this year' and spend $30 on these three.

If you really want to, I saw them on eBay.
