I GOT AN EAMES' ERA PLANT STAND!

If you follow this blog you'll know my Most Wanted item since obtaining my boat shaped cocktail bar, has been a mid-century plant stand.

I especially wanted one with multicoloured tiers. They always go for £130+ on eBay, which is totally out of my price range.

My husband has just scored major points by buying me this beauty for our upcoming wedding anniversary.

I'm a bit giddy! I got one!

The World of Kitsch goes to Lulabelle's House Furniture Restoration Class

Remember the time I took the tin of green paint to the kitchen wall? With furious husband results? Well I've been known to take a brush and pot to furniture too.
I heard about Lulabelle's House furniture workshops through a friend on Twitter, and jumped at the chance to learn the techniques to carry out my grand ideas properly.

I booked one of the Saturday workshops on Natasha's site www.lulabelleshouse.co.uk This one was held in Reuse Recycle in Larne. You can bring your own piece of furniture, or choose a piece included in the price of the class from the Reuse shop.

The morning starts with a little tea party, where you'll talk about what you'd like to learn, and how to start prepping your piece.

It's very informal and relaxed, and Natasha is a very natural teacher. It's basically a day of chat & fun, plus you learn something!

All the tools, paints, fabrics are provided, so all you need to do it figure out which of the beautiful themes to go for.

We each worked on our furniture, then stopped for a picnic style lunch, French bread & olives, great fuel for shabby chic-ing.

The snazzy secrets you'll learn mean that you'll most likely finish your furniture by the 5pm class ending time, and be able to take it home with you that day.

I really enjoyed the workshop, I'd recommend it to any of my friends who'd like to be able to do this themselves. Lulabelle's House would also be pretty cool for an alternative hen party idea. Natasha is also lining up bunting workshops, so keep an eye on www.lulabelleshouse.co.uk

The World of Kitsch Goes Back to School

I'm very excited, as tomorrow I'll be going to a one day class in furniture painting. The Larne-based workshops are arranged by www.lullabelleshouse.co.uk and teach a range of techniques to beautify old chairs, tables, whatever you fancy having a go at. They supply you with a piece of furniture to work on, or you can bring your own.

I'll have a full report of how I get on tomorrow, with photos of the little telephone table I plan to kitsch up!
