6ft Prairie Dog Sculpture Roadside Attraction in Belfast

Very cute, new sculpture outside the gates of Belfast Zoo.
Large prairie dog emerging from the pavement. Reminds me of American Roadside Oddities, like giant dinosaurs at trucker cafes.

Belfast Zoo has a large prairie dog community, who have expanded their territory from their enclosure out onto a nearby hillside. They are quite tame, so a highlight of a visit is often hand feeding a prairie dog on this hillside when they poke out of their tunnels

Excellent idea for a piece of 'art' to promote the zoo.

Large Topiary Whale at Belfast Zoo

Lots of new sculpture & decorating features decorating Belfast Zoological Gardens this year, including this impressive topiary whale.

It's fairly new, and in a very early stage of growth, but immediately appealed to me.

I am a terrible gardener, but I do have my eye on a squirrel shaped topiary kit that's just under £20 in Donaghadee Garden Centre.
Maybe see how my courgettes grow this year & leave the leaf sculpture for now.

Kitschy Neon Fake Lily Display

We have metal iron work on the outside windows of our kitchen door & back room, which I've been eyeing up the past weeks thinking they are a decorating opportunity I must invest in.

On one side I attached Cath Kitson oilcloth bunting in cowboy & polka dot prints.

I wanted some tacky fake flowers to 'plant' in amongst the iron work of the door, but the ones I'd seen in Poundland were very crappy & sparse looking.

I found these beauties at St. George's Market in Belfast this morning. They also had some glittery ones.

Faux Taxidermied Flamingo

This was an amazing find. UK high street store Accessorize were using these flamingo props as window dressing this spring. Monsoon & Accessorize operate a policy of selling on window props if customers enquire about them.

I put my name down for one of Monsoon Forestside's three flamingoes six weeks back, and returned to collect it today.

I've only ever seen one real taxidermy flamingo on eBay, and it was a small fortune, so I'm chuffed.
